American Academy of Implant Dentistry
About the Academy
The American Academy of Implant Dentistry was founded in 1951 by a group of of 13 professionals. It’s considered the first professional organization in the world dedicated to implant dentistry. The academy includes general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists and others profesionals in the dental field.
The AAID promotes the advance of science and practice of implant dentistry through education, research and the use of technology. This organization is committed to providing essential funds towards research in implant dentistry. For this reason, an Endowment Fund has been created by the academy.
Aside from founds activities, this organization has awarded research grants through corporate and member contributions to further the art and science of implant dentistry. The AAID offers dental implant courses in different levels of expertise. The 10-month-long MaxiCourses® is considered the most respected training program in implant dentistry. Those courses are offered in many universities across the United States.
As a complement of this courses, the AAID offers a highly succesfull credentialing program. This program consists in two levels of credentialing: the Fellow and the Associate Fellow. To qualify for these credentials, a candidate must meet strict criteria regarding education and years practiced and pass certified examinations.
