About the New York University College of Dentistry
The New York University College of Dentistry was founded in 1865 as the New York College of Dentistry, with 31 students and 10 faculty members. It was officially merged with New York University in 1925, which led to the promotion of research and postdoctoral education. It is located near Manhattan’s Midtown area.
The College offers training annually to over 1,600 students from all over the U.S. and nearly 50 countries. In addition to prepearing new proffesionals, NYUCD endeavors to improve the health of the highly diverse populations in New York City and around the world.
The college faculty is also making dramatic progress in a number of areas, including engineering artificial muscle, minimizing the devastating effects of oral cancer, designing and testing dental implants, and reducing oral health disparities.
The NYUCD maintains one of the largest dental libraries in the United States. It contains over 36,000 bound volumes, 440 professional journals and the most complete collection of dental rare book in America.
As a result of this efforts, NYUCD is one of the most important institutions in the world with the greatest impact on the health of society.
